Community Guidelines

Pathtale · Draft, effective date to be announced

Pathtale is built for sharing your life with people who want to share theirs with you. Consent is the foundation.

  • Don't track, monitor, or follow anyone who hasn't chosen to share with you.
  • Don't install or use Pathtale on someone else's device, or sign into their account.
  • Don't pressure, threaten, or coerce anyone to share their location, turn off Ghost Mode, or keep history.
  • Don't use someone's location to show up uninvited, confront, or intimidate them.
  • Don't screenshot or reshare someone's location or history to people they didn't share with.

2. No harassment or threats

No harassment, bullying, threats, hate, or incitement.

3. No non-consensual or harmful imagery

  • No intimate images of anyone without their consent.
  • No sexual content involving minors. We report it to NCMEC.
  • No graphic violence intended to shock or threaten.

4. Be yourself

No impersonation, fake accounts, or misrepresenting your identity or age. Pathtale is 18+.

5. Respect others' memories

Tag people only in memories they were actually part of. Anyone can remove themselves from any shared memory or time-together record.

6. Comments and reactions

  • Comment the way you would in person. No harassment, insults, slurs, threats, sexual comments or spam, including in replies and @mentions.
  • Don't use comments to reveal where someone is or lives, or anything they didn't share themselves (addresses, phone numbers, their location or routine).
  • Don't @mention people to pull them into a memory they weren't part of or to pile on.
  • Memories belong to their owners. The owner can delete any comment on their memory or turn comments off; please respect that.
  • We check new comments against a list of banned terms. A comment may be refused or held for review before anyone else sees it.

7. Tools you can use

  • Block: the person can no longer see you, share with you, or see you in their history, and you no longer see each other's memories, comments or reactions.
  • Report: tell us about a person, memory, comment, or message. Reports are confidential. When you report a comment, we keep a copy of it for 90 days so we can review it even if it's deleted.
  • Audience and comments off: choose who sees each memory (Only me, Tagged friends, Friends), and turn comments off on any memory of yours.
  • Ghost Mode, approximate location, delayed location, Home privacy: control what friends see.
  • Remove yourself from shared records.

If you're in danger, contact local emergency services first.

8. Enforcement

Depending on severity, we may:

  • Warn you.
  • Remove a memory, a comment, your profile photo or bio, or reset a display name that impersonates someone.
  • Suspend your account for a set time, during which you can't use Pathtale.
  • Ban your account permanently.

Location abuse and stalking lead to immediate suspension pending review. When we act, the app tells you what we did, which rule it was under, and until when. While suspended or banned, you can still download your data and delete your account. We cooperate with law enforcement under our Legal Request Policy. [Appeals process TBD, LR-126.]
