Terms of Service

1. Agreement

Before you create an account, you're asked to agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy by ticking two separate boxes. Nothing is ticked for you. The Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. We keep a record of which version you agreed to and when. [Legal entity name, address: TBD.]

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old. One account per person. Don't impersonate anyone.

You control who sees your location and how (precise, approximate, delayed, or Ghost Mode).
You may not use Pathtale to track anyone without their knowledge or consent. That includes using another person's device or account, or pressuring someone to share. Doing so violates these Terms and may be illegal.
Location may be inaccurate or delayed. Don't rely on Pathtale for emergencies or safety-critical decisions. Pathtale isn't an emergency service.
Location may be approximate, delayed, or intentionally obscured based on the user's privacy settings. Do not rely on location sharing for emergencies or personal safety. A friend who chooses to show you an older spot, an area or "At home" isn't marked as doing so; only a location reported in real time carries the "Live" badge. You agree to this notice in the app before you see friends' locations.

4. Your content

You own the memories, photos, and other content you create. You grant us a limited license to host, store, and display it only to provide the service to you and the people you share it with. The license ends when you delete the content, subject to backup expiry. Don't upload content you don't have rights to, or intimate images of anyone without their consent.

5. Life History

Life History is optional. It's kept according to the settings you choose and can be deleted at any time. Recaps are generated only from history we still have. If you shorten or delete history, we can't recreate it.

6. Subscriptions

Subscriptions are billed through Apple or Google and renew automatically until cancelled in your store account settings.
Trials convert to paid unless cancelled before the trial ends. [Trial terms TBD.]
Refunds are handled by Apple/Google under their policies.
If a subscription ends, premium features stop. Your history isn't deleted because of it. We keep it for at least [12 months] and tell you before anything changes. You can export or delete it at any time.
Privacy controls, deletion, export, and account deletion are free on every plan.

7. Acceptable use

Follow the Community Guidelines. We may remove content, or suspend or end accounts that violate these Terms, especially for stalking, harassment, or location abuse. We'll tell you what we did and why. A suspended or ended account can still download its data and delete itself.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account in the app at any time (Settings > Account > Delete account). Deletion completes after a [7-day] cancellation window.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

10. Disputes and governing law

11. Changes

Every version of these Terms is kept, with a summary of what changed, in Settings > Legal.
Material changes. We tell you in the app what changed and ask you to agree to the new version before you keep using Pathtale. If you don't want to, you can sign out or delete your account instead. Features that run in the background, like location sharing, keep working under the previous version for up to [30 days] so nothing stops without you knowing.
Minor changes (for example typos or clearer wording) are shown as a notice and don't need you to agree again.
